Movement education Parent workshops and classes

Educators:

Music and Movement Programs for Early Childhood and early elementary classes.

School age children will learn while enjoying a kaleidoscope of activities. All activities are age appropriate. Music and movement experiences include following the leader, drumming to a steady beat, problem solving with a partner, and learning easy folk dances. Children will make a simple plan for movement activities, and then act out their plan. We will sing songs and create new lyrics for those songs.

The curriculum uses traditional, folk, jazz and classical music to enhance the musical experience. Connie plays a ukulele and has many varieties of drums she uses as part of the program.

Education in Motion encourages children to learn in a fun and joyful way that emphasizes development of the whole child.

Parents:

Music and Babykins ( ages 6-18 months) with an adult

Rhythm instruments, songs, fingerplays and movement are all activities we will experience in this class. You will rock with Rocky the raccoon, move with hoops, play peek-a-boo with scarves and enjoy bubble time. Ms. Connie plays her ukulele to enhance the learning environment and provide musical accompaniment for activities.

Music and Munchkins (ages 18-36 months) with an adult

Come sing, dance and move to the music with your young child. Children will meet Rocky the raccoon, Princess Doreme and Tony the monkey. Rhythm instruments, scarves, shakers, “pretend horses” and a parachute all add to the fun. Children will have opportunities for social interaction while they participate in songs and finger plays, and move to the beat. Ms. Connie plays her ukulele as a musical way to invite children to participate in the class. Activities are developmentally appropriate and can enhance the learning and listening skills of the young child.
